What are the sub genres of teen drama films?
Sub genres are alternatively categories for films, in this case, teen dramas are categorised into two separate sub genres which are:
Youth dramas & High school dramas
Youth dramas:
Youth dramas tend to typically focus on a rebellious teenager character. This particular genre is used and targeted at teenagers to typically portray a teenager lifestyle. An example of this is through rebellion, conflict between parents and alienation. These films often show a rebellious character that challenges or creates conflict between them and higher authority. This genre portrays youths as being a problem within society and highlights the difficulties that young people face within their day to day lifestyles.
High School dramas:
On the other hand, high school dramas tend to focus mainly on the socialisation between the different social groups within a particular setting such as a school, college, universe or even within the household. Codes and conventions vary within a high school drama, however we are still typically exposed to high school parties, social groups and cliques, and conflict with the older generation.
