 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking back at the Prelim task I have learnt alot of skills and knowledge across my work. In our prelim task there was very little types of shots and our editing skills were really basic. I myself did not know much about camera work, editing, and advanced camera shots. In our prelim we started off with planning and we used a storyboard of the events and shots that we would be planning on doing, we had also decided of what the prelim will be about. We also then had a chance to use cameras and since it was my first time I had really basic skills and holding the camera itself was difficult without it shaking, we used school outfit as props and other parts of mis en scene we used was the lighting and we had gone for daylight whereby we didnt need to add extra lights and we had gone for an easy set place which was our college in one of the media rooms. We had also did some light editing again first time editing it was really difficult to interpretate what we wanted the film to look like and use some of the editing tools first time was tricky and harder to find certain tools, we also were able to cut shots down and add match cuts and also follow the 180 degrees rule, when doing so we only added a few of these editing shots as we didnt have much from filming, we also added a few folic sounds aswell in order for the film to stand out, we had very few titles and it was of really basic with less colour and volume. In all as a first chance of filming we did pretty good as a team we had learnt really good skills from camera work, planning, editing, and even acting!

EXAMPLES OF PRELIM:

Moving on from the Prelim we had advanced our skill set and learnt a whole lot more from the planning of our work to the actual footage taking and editing as well as being able to feedback. I can compare some of the skills from my prelim to my final film. One way we as a team had advanced from the prelim one thing that we learnt in the progression from it was the planning, we had realised from the prelim we had not had a full detailed plan and hence had lacked a few shots we could have used in the editing process. This time round our planning was ahead and we had done this in detail so we can capture the storyline we wanted and have enough shots for the audience to view and understand. This lead us to create multiple storyboards which was good as we had different types of shots to work on and produce a better storyline and filming. We have also advanced from our camerawork we had used more camera equipment such as tripods, lights, fig rig.

This is because we had gotten a chance to use the camera before and got the hang of it, the different equipment enhanced the quality of our work to greaten as we were able to capture more character emotion. We had also improved and enhanced on mis en scene by using similar techniques from our prelim such as props which suggested ''gangsters'', external lighting such as the camera lights, and we had a few different sets from one location to another, e.g. Tottenham , Angel, Silver Street to help capture the different scenes for our urban youth drama film. Moreover, we had also got a chance to learn new skills such as using garageband which was used to make background music in order to capture the audiences attention and add a more emotion to the film. By using garageband we had created a background track which we were able to customize and link effectively to our film, this gave us more skill as we had got the chance to learn a new application of media.

This time round we had to make titles and following on from the prelim we had this time used motion in order to make the titles, these titles were improved from the prelim as we had gotten more time and chance to use editing software in motion to make the colour, font, and size better and also used it to match the titles against side our film. To add to this we had also improved and advanced on our editing from the prelim task to the final film product. Likewise from the prelim we had followed the 180 degrees rule but also had more shots such as match cuts, close ups, long shots, medium shots, extreme close ups, panning. Which was used in the editing sessions as we had gotten a chance to compress them and allow equal time periods between each shot for example when showing the different scenary. We were able to improve on the quality of the shots as this time round we had better equipment and also more seady hands. When editing we got more chance and had added alot more compared to the prelim, such as music, shots, visual effects such as filters, and different types of sound such as folic, digetic and non digetic sounds. This played a massive effect in the quality of our work looking much more movie standard in our words and helped capture the audience for example our classmates from feedback. Finally, to also mention we had learnt alot more people skills such as being able to work in a team through delegation, teamwork, and commitment compared to the prelim as we all had less responsibility we all had an equal saying in decision making and coming up with ideas and also leant to work independently as we sometimes had to do different tasks to one another such as editing, blogging indepedently, and filming.

EXAMPLES OF THE FINAL FILM:

Throughout the process I have enjoyed working and creating this film we had leant how to plan, use misenscene, use the camera, film, edit, and produce, not only that we had also learnt to work together, (4 heads are better than 1). And we have developed these skills throught the work using them at each stage from prelim to the final film, this helped us get better at the skills and learn skills along the way!
