What I have learn't from the process of editing

Throughout the process of editing these last few weeks, I have learnt that in order to have a great opening sequence you must have a variety of different camera shots, therefore you have more shots to work with and this makes editing easier because you are able to take a snippet from each shot. Additionally I have learnt that transitions such a slow motion are very useful and help the audience to under what is going on. I would say that the slow motion transition was the most effective piece of editing for our film GRIND at the end of the scene, as we are so accustomed to viewing things in normal speed therefore when we view it in slow motion it allows much more of the image to be seen and taken in by the eyes. In this instance, the slow motion shows Mel walking away slowly and makes the audience consider and think about what is in the back? Is he the good or bad guy? What happens next?
